It's a Nice Day for a White Wedding
Wednesday January 28, 2004
Looking for the ultimate winter white wedding? Why not have it in a hotel built entirely out of ice? If you haven't heard of Quebec's Ice Hotel, or Hotel de Glace, prepare to be amazed. Every winter hundreds of ice sculptors carve the entire building out of ice - everything from the front desk to the
chairs in the lobby to even the beds are made of ice. For brides and grooms, there's an ice chapel, and they'll arrange to have a civil officiant, along with a bottle of champagne and two ice champagne flutes! This year twenty couples will marry during the hotel's season from mid-January to early April.
You don't have to stay at the hotel to have your wedding there, but if you do, you'll sleep wrapped in several furs and blankets, similar to camping. Although made of ice, the hotel's four foot walls keep the place insulated from the wind, and the temperature inside averages 23 to 28 degrees Fahrenheit. For more information, visit their web site.
