Non-traditional wedding locations are becoming increasingly popular, but few are as untraditional as Jill Piggott and Pete Freeman's wedding in the Northern English town of York. They got married at the ASDA Supermarket where they met. Jill worked the checkout, and Pete was her customer, so when the time came to wed, somehow the supermarket made sense! The couple were the first Britons to wed in a supermarket. Until recently, the UK had strict laws dictating that civil marriages could only take place at official registry offices. Now, couples can wed at a variety of hotels, manor homes, and other locally licensed sites. The ASDA supermarket is the first to have a license to conduct weddings on the premises.
