I ran across this site that gives practical advice about wedding planning from a recently married couple. It's a breath of fresh air, with an easy style of writing that should help you relax about all the decisions you've been making. While there are a few things I disagree with (I can tell the difference between a $500 dress and a $2500 dress, thank you), the majority is very helpful advice that should help you realize that nothing is "essential" and to create the wedding of your dreams not someone else's dreams.
P.S. I'm not saying you need a $2500 dress, just that there is a discernable difference between the two - primarily in the quality of fabric used and in the detailing.
