California Judge Rules Gay Marriage Constitutional Right

Judge Richard Kramer of San Francisco County Superior Court ruled Monday that withholding marriage licences from gays and lesbians is discrimination and unconstitutional. Although the ruling will not be final until March 30, pro-gay marriage activists, San Francisco residents, and others are celebrating it as a victory, while preparing to continue the legal battle. Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneggar and others have said they will contest the ruling, and perhaps try to get a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
