A man got married...to himself!

This weekend Kevin Nadal got married. He sent save-the-date cards, assembled a bridal party, hired a deejay and a caterer, booked a room, and registered. But there's one thing Kevin didn't do - find a bride! That's because Kevin is a single gay man who was inspired to throw a wedding for himself. As he eloquently put it in a Salon.com article, "there isn't anything to show that my choice to be single is just as valuable as someone's choice to get married and have a family. Before, being single used to mean that no one wanted you, that you weren't attractive enough. Now it's a choice." Although, given that he registered at three different stores for such items as an Ipod and a Mr. Beer home brewing kit, we have to question whether this is really a political statement, or just an excuse to throw a party and get some gifts. Either way, it's a fun idea - it will be interesting to see how long the marriage lasts!
