Couple marries - 53 years after their engagement!

While the news is full of runaway brides and vapid celebrity engagements, it is so heartwarming to read a story like this one. Jerry Wedergren and Joanne Todarello first fell in love in the early '50s, and soon were engaged to be married. However, the pair were separated by the Korean War, as Wedergren was a Navy man. The separation proved too much, the engagement was broken, and both eventually married other people. But after the death of his wife, Wedergren decided to search for his long-lost love. He discovered that Todarello was also a widow, and the pair soon reconected. After another engagement, the pair finally got married on Friday, over fifty years after their first engagement. Read more.
