The importance of being registered

Tuesday August 2, 2005
When shopping for wedding presents lately, I've had a problem shopping from the registry. The bride and groom simply haven't registered for very many things, and often the items in my price range have already been purchased. Perhaps it's because my friends and family have small apartments. Or perhaps it's because the couples who have married lately have been rather young and thus unable to imagine a life where they'll need china and crystal. So this is a public service announcement for those type of couples. When you don't register for very much, people will still buy you wedding presents - often ones that you don't want or can't use. It is far better to spend some time choosing things that you can use. If you already have all the appliances and tableware you can imagine owning, consider trading up to better quality. Or, consider using an untraditional registry such as the ones found here.
