Ann Taylor Offers Off-the-rack Wedding Attire

Monday September 19, 2005
When J.Crew launched their ready-to-wear wedding and special occasions line, it was such a "why-didn't-I-think-of-that?" moment. Featuring both wedding and bridesmaids dresses flattering on most figures for relatively-affordable prices (around $250), the new line got a lot of attention in the press. (J.Crew has since added some luxury dresses for around $2000, but retains best-sellers like the Sophia.)

Now Ann Taylor has produced a "Celebrations" Collection - a group of five dresses in classic silhouettes along with matching wraps, jackets, and accessories. Prices range from about $200 for a dress to $58 for a matching clutch. They're perfect for the bride looking for a relatively inexpensive dress, or a bride who simply doesn't have the time to wait for a traditional wedding dress. And I love one of the chocolate dresses with a matching bolero jacket for the mother-of-the-bride or -groom. Ready-to-wear bridal collections in simple silhouettes are a concept that makes so much sense!
