Number of Weddings Per Year In U.S. Expected to Double
Wednesday October 19, 2005
Ever hear the term "Echo boomers"? Also known as Generation Y, these are the offspring of the original baby boom, born between 1979 and 2002. They're a big bunch, numbering almost 80 million, nearly twice the number of the preceeding generation. They're studied by focus groups, and catered to by all of Corporate America, in hopes of winning their sizeable spending dollars. Next year, the oldest of them will be 27 - the current median age for getting married. What does this mean for you? Well, the number of weddings per year could double. So this could be a great time to start that wedding-related business you've dreamed of, or learn how to become a wedding planner. Or, if you're planning on getting married soon, you'll want to make sure that you can still get your dream location, caterer, and officiant, so it's never too early to start on that wedding planning checklist.
