Get married up in the clouds - a wedding perfect for the wine connoiseur or gourmand
Monday November 14, 2005
As I've written about before, I consider the Columbia River Gorge one of the most romantic locations in the world to get married. I've just discovered the Cave B Inn, situated high above the Columbia River Gorge in ancient basalt cliffs. The area not only has the most breathtaking views and sunsets, but it also gets over 300 days of sunshine a year. That's weather perfect for growing grapes for the Cave B Estate Winery, and perfect for the bride looking to avoid rain on her wedding day - or honeymoon. Not only does the winery produce some amazing wines, but the Inn's kitchen boasts chef Fernando Divina (a 2005 James Beard award winner). If this sounds like the perfect relaxing trip for you, check out Cavebinn.com

I just want to say that although Cave B is very beautiful and a really great place to get married, be prepared to be let down. I am a vendor who has done several weddings at Cave B and each time something huge has gone wrong (the wind knocked over the cake – no one was around to fix it, the twinkle lights around the pagoda were broken and sorry! maintenance has left so tough luck, etc.). What is unfortunate is that Cave B made hardly any attempts to fix or help with the problem leaving more than one bride frustrated and in tears. Yes, it’s beautiful, but don’t expect anything to be perfect.
