Duff Goldman, Ace of Cakes

I'm not someone who gets addicted to TV very easily, but I've gotten hooked on the new Food Network show Ace of Cakes. If you haven't seen it, it follows Duff Goldman and his friends at Baltimore's Charm City Bakery as they turn out amazing artistic cakes like a realistic reproduction of a groom's favorite camera or a wedding cake covered with scenes of California that looks more like a painting than a cake. It's no surprise then, that many of the staffers aren't trained pastry chefs, but rather painters, sculptors, musicians and other creative types. And since 70% of Duff's business is wedding cakes, it's an especially fun show for the bride-to-be. 
Laurie Woolever has a brief interview with Chef Duff in the New York Observer's Bridal Blog this week. It's refreshing to hear Duff talk about being the "anti-wedding industry wedding vendor." My daughters cousin is Geoff (from the show) He is very talented, and I agree, the show is fun & so are the cakes. It almost hurts to watch them cut into those magnificent works of art!
