How Many Wedding Guests Can We Invite
Thursday May 22, 2008
One of the most common questions brides and grooms have is, "How many of our invited wedding guests will actually show up?" Figuring out how many people to invite is an art, not a science, but there are some general rules of thumb to help you out. Estimating a Wedding Guest List: How Many Guests to Invite

What a fabulous method for estimating guest attendance!
Did you know the average number of guests invited to a wedding is 178?! Of course the average for Las Vegas Weddings is a little less, but the percentage of out-of-town guests that actually attend is a little higher than the average. What can we say people love Las Vegas! It’s wonderful, easy and affordable destination, be it for a wedding or not.
It’s true, when you get married at home most people will show up if they are available…who would miss that free steak dinner, and don’t get me started on the open bar!
Destination weddings see a different rate, because guests usually have to pay to travel to them, which can potentially limit the amount of attendees. That’s why it’s important to look at the facts, like when Nina’s article mentions considering if you have a maximum limit. For DWs I say to find your minimum, which are those guests that you NEED at your wedding, and wouldn’t get married without. It’s the same theory…just working backwards.
What a great equation. It seems like one of the biggest struggles for the bride and groom- figuring out who, and how many people, to invite! At least this will help narrow it down. I had never thought to break it up like that, into local and out of towns guests. Thanks!
