Rescuing your Wedding Registry

Thursday June 12, 2008
I get lots of emails from couples saying, "We already have two households full of STUFF. We don't need to register for anything!" But just having the essentials covered misses out on a lot of potential fun! For those who like to cook, the Epicurious editors had some suggestions, namely a pasta maker, a fondue pot and a tagine. I totally agree on the pasta maker, though I would choose the pasta attachment for the Kitchenaid mixer (assuming you already own the mixer.) The other two I'm not so sure of. What do you all think? But even for those who don't cook. You can register for camping equipment, pieces of art, new furniture and more. Check out my list of non-traditional and unusual wedding registries. You might also check out wedding registries like Target, where you can both ask for a few more things for the home, and sporting or electronic equipment.

I couldn’t agree- more. Think outside the box! What would you love to get if you were in that position? I love the spa gift certificate idea. Or if the couple has recently bought a house, gift certificates to Home Depot/Lowes, etc might be useful.
