Project Runway Wedding Dresses Photos

Thursday October 9, 2008
Did you see Project Runway tonight? The final 4 designers were asked to design wedding dresses (and accompanying bridesmaid dresses). This challenge decided who got to compete at Bryant Park for the big prize, so it was hugely important task. In my opinion, there was one great dress, one beautifully created dress that I wouldn't want to wear, and two terrible, horrible, tacky, overwrought disastrous wedding dresses. (Can you tell I didn't like them?)

SPOILER WARNING: pictures of the wedding dresses below! Click on the blue comments tag to tell us what you think of these Project Runway wedding dresses.

SCROLL DOWN

  • Leanne designed a sculptural wedding dress based on waves. Though it's hard to tell in the picture here, this dress was truly breathtaking. When the woman moved, it really looked like waves rippling. But, as you can see, it just wouldn't be very flattering on anyone but the skinniest model.

  • Kenley's dress was chic, fashion forward, unique, and yet still flattering. As Tim said, this looks like a fun wedding that I'd love to go to.

  • Jerell's dress had so much potential; how did it go so horribly wrong? When you saw it in his studio, it looked like it could become a Dior-inspired chic dress. By the time he showed up on the runway, it was a terribly overwrought mess. Don't get me wrong, I don't think many brides really want to wear grey on their wedding day, but it definitely had potential. The problem with ultra-draped dresses is that they really need a delicate touch to keep the wearer from looking overwhelmed by the fabric. If only Jerell had listened to Tim's advice to edit!

  • Korto had another disaster on her hands. She too just spent too much time adding, adding, adding, and not nearly enough time editing. I think even she knew that she'd gone horribly wrong.

But enough of what I thought! Please, tell us what you think of these dresses. Would you wear any of them? Let us know in the comments!

Like Michael Kors said, Jerell’s tulle looked dirty. If you’re going to use tulle, it needs to be white, or slightly off white, not dishwater gray.

I thought that Jerell’s dress was better than Korto’s, but from the peek a the collection, Korto’s looks more interesting and like she has a better chance to win. Tough break though - Jerell’s such a cool guy! He’s going to have a great career though - go Jerell!!!

I would wear Leanne’s if those were my only 4 choices. I must admit I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them. I also liked her bridesmaid dress as well.

I really liked that hateful rockabilly girl’s dress a lot better when I saw it the first time. You know, back in February when Lee McQueen showed it for Fall 2008.
