Heat and the Outdoor Wedding
In most of the United States, August means heat and humidity. But many couples have always dreamed of having their wedding in the beautiful outdoors. I'm going to a outdoor wedding in the south soon, and I'm trying to figure out how light of a sundress I can wear without scandalizing anyone.
For your wedding ceremony, would you rather have your guests thinking about how beautiful your vows are, or how uncomfortable they are? Don't forget that what is "not that hot" or "not that cold" to you can be unbearable to someone with a slightly different body temperature than yours. That's why I put together this list of tips on how to make sure your guests are comfortable at an outdoor wedding. Here's to beautiful vows outdoors.

Nina,
Very good points! Everyone always envisions their outdoor wedding as perfect, but often weather/fate have other plans. I see it all the time with destination weddings.
Some of my favorites include an outdoor buffet prior to the ceremony at the beach gazebo…but they didn’t know that the seagulls on that beach were invited and ferocious! Good point on what guests should wear, because if a couple is having a beach wedding guests may feel obligated to put formal attire on, when the couple might want them to go casual.
Speaking of your alcohol dehyrating comment, what about the groom that had his batchelor party the night before his 95 degree beach wedding! Sound crazy?…it happens!
I did 3 weddings this past weekend in Northern New Jersey in 90+ heat…all outdoors!!! All the venues either had conbinations of fans and cold (non-alcoholic) drinks fans for the guests, but I still had to stand in the sun, in a black robe, and watch the grandma melt. I suppose brides have this image of the perfect outdoor wedding that they cannot let go.
