The Office: Dancing Up the Aisle

Friday October 9, 2009

All anyone seemed to be talking about today was TV's The Office Wedding. Or more specifically, they were talking about Jim and Pam's bridal party dancing up the aisle in a spoof of the famous Youtube sensation of the past summer, JK Wedding Entrance Dance. But while the original real life couple planned to add this bit of fun and whimsy to their wedding, Jim and Pam's bridesmaids and groomsmen "surprised" them, much to their dismay. Right now, you can watch the clip on NBC. What do you think? Would you dance down the aisle at your wedding?

I TOTALLY want to dance down the aisle at my wedding. But now I’m afraid people will just think I copied! What to do?

SAVE YOUR DANCING FOR THE RECEPTION. A WEDDING CEREMONY SHOULD BE A SACRED EVENT AND SHOULD BE RESPECTED LIKEWISE.

It’s your wedding. Do whatever YOU want. I just got married in August, and I wanted to do the same thing. My husband didn’t want to copy (just like you said)…so we compromised. We danced at the end. After the minister pronounced us husband and wife, we started with Ode to Joy – then 30 seconds into the song, the DJ mixed in U2’s ‘Beautiful Day’! It was great!!

We danced the 2-step back down the aisle 15 years ago. Friends and family still talk about how great that was.
If you are sincere and dancing is your thing – go for it.
