Jilted Bride Turns Wedding into a Good Deed Bash

Tuesday November 3, 2009

It's every bride or groom's worst nightmare: learning that your loved one has cold feet and the wedding is off. But when Teanne Harris found herself stood up at the altar and then learned that she couldn't get her deposit back, she didn't just melt into a puddle of tears. Instead, she quickly turned a disastrous situation into a good deed for others.

With a Halloween-themed wedding planned, and a retirement home across the street from her catering hall, Harris and her mother realized that the ruined wedding could easily become an extra-special occasion. Thanks to their generosity, hundreds of seniors enjoyed a buffet dinner before dancing to oldies and swing music played by Harris's wedding DJ. The guests - many of whom wore masks or even full costumes - reportedly all had a blast. Harris herself attended, smiling through her sadness, before leaving for her would-be honeymoon in Hawaii.
