Weddings for Sports Fans

Does your love for a certain team almost exceed your love for a certain mate? Was your common love of sports something that you bonded over early in your relationship? There's no need to deny this part of you in favor of a frilly wedding that lack's your personality. Incorporate athletics into your wedding day.


ATTIRE: Subtly work in your favorite sports teams colors- for example, if you’re a Mets fan, bridesmaids could wear blue dresses and carry mixed bouquets that prominently feature orange flowers.

DECORATIONS: Instead of table numbers, use your favorite players or the names of stadiums

MENU: Serve your favorite tailgate foods, such as pigs-in-blankets, burgers, and chips.

SETTING: Consider a local stadium, which often will let you rent the park on days the team isn’t using it. Otherwise, look for a space where your guests will be able to have a game of touch football or volleyball.

FAVORS: Give your guests personalized hockey pucks or other mini sport item with your photo, names, and wedding date. You could also give gift certificates to their local minor-league baseball team.

SPECIAL TOUCH: Consider having your wedding on Super Bowl Sunday or the Seventh Game of the World Series where you can have all of those you love around you for the best sports party ever. Rent a big flat screen TV (or several, if you’re having lots of guests) and comfortable chairs. Serve great Buffalo wings, lots of chips and a wide variety of local brews.
