Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin Elope

Although their publicists have yet to confirm it, a clerk from the Santa Barbara County Courthouse told reporters that actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin tied the knot in a secret ceremony on the grounds of a Santa Barbara hotel. The wedding supposedly took place just days after they announced Paltrow's pregnancy. While details of the ceremony have been kept hush hush, rumors say that not even family members were present, but that Gwyneth and Chris might have invited family members to their honeymoon in Los Cabos, Mexico to make up for it.

While in Mexico, Chris Martin suffered a surfboard incident, and required three stitches in his forehead. But both Martin and Paltrow made it home safely to London, sporting matching wedding rings.

Wedding rumors have dogged the couple since summer 2003, when Paltrow appeared to be wearing an engagement ring. The couple met backstage at a Coldplay concert, and since then Paltrow has been one of their biggest fans and is regularly spotted at Coldplay concerts. Chris Martin also revealed that the band's song "Moses" was written for Gwyneth.



No matter what the size of their wedding, most celebrities try to elude the press in an effort to keep the ceremony personal, but Gwyneth and Chris have truly succeeded in keeping their details under wraps!
