In any wedding, there are so many beautiful moments - the romance of the first dance, the importance of the wedding vows. Even a packed dance floor of tipsy guests is pretty awe-inspiring.
But my favorite part of a wedding is a pretty simple one. It's when the groom sees the bride walking down the aisle. (Or for a same-sex or non-traditional couple, when they see each other for the first time.)
While most people are watching the bride make her grand entrance, I like to sneak a peek at the person waiting for her. He's usually unselfconscious as he thinks all eyes are on his gorgeous wife-to-be. It's amazing to see his eyes lit up with immense joy and a little bit of nerves. That first moment is full of apprehension, and then it typically turns to gratitude. Just before the processional is finished, there's usually a bit of the groom steeling himself for the vows ahead, and a big smile when he finally gets to touch her hands.
It's a tiny moment, and certainly not one that a couple spends much time planning, but for me it's the best part of a wedding. What's yours?
