When was the marriage proposal?

We had a whirlwind romance and started talking about getting married about a month after we started dating. I knew I wanted a unique ring, and so we started looking together, and finally found the perfect ring in July 2003.
Officially, we got engaged July 14, 2003

How long had you been dating previously?

About 6 months

How did your fiancé/fiancée pop the question?

We had planned a picnic together in the house with fried chicken and champagne. Since we bought the ring together, I knew it was going to happen and he asked me “so do you want dinner first or the ring first?” Of course, I said the ring and he gave it to me.
Once we found the place where we were going to get married, we went to dinner there, and had a really romantic moment where he asked me to marry him in that room. I know it sounds weird, but in a lot of ways, that feels like the real engagement!

Did your fiancé/fiancée already have an engagement ring? What did it look like?

It’s modern with an art-deco look to it. The center stone is a 1 carat sapphire in a raised prong setting with two small diamonds embedded on the side. The tension setting allows you to see the sapphire from all sides.
