Marriage Proposal Stories - a Trip not a Trick!

Man Uses Slight of Hand to Propose to His Girlfriend

By , About.com Guide

A Trick, not a Trip

There are few phrases in the English language that are more sweated over or rehearsed than "will you marry me?" People who are about to make marriage proposals are often a crazy bunch, in need of hand-holding and calming measures. If you're sweating over your own marriage proposal, try reading these marriage proposal stories for inspiration and company. Or, if you're a romantic like I am, read them just because – regardless of how soon or recent your own marriage proposal might be.

When was the marriage proposal?

August 26th

How long had you been dating previously?

Well, we dated for a year & 1/2 back in 2000... & then hadn't talked in 2 1/2 years! The beginning of July I had the opportunity to talk to him on the phone for an hour, and then not again 'til we finally saw each other the first of August. So I guess "technically" about 3 weeks... lol.

How did your fiancé/fiancée pop the question?

He came to pick me up from work & I was wrapping things up & shutting down the office. We have tape over cords across part of the floor & he acted like he tripped.... LOL. I really thought he fell! When he got up he was on one knee holding a ring. :-)

Did your fiancé/fiancée already have an engagement ring? What did it look like?

A diamond solitaire, princess cut in white gold & I love it.

Any special details or other thoughts you'd like to share?

We're planning a small ceremony in December. He's in the army & will be home for 2 weeks. I haven't told my family yet!!! They are a little hesitant about this all & frankly, I just don't want their negativity right now! :-)
