Prince William and Kate's wedding is getting more exciting by the moment. When HRH Prince William first proposed to Miss Catherine Middleton, there were some thoughts that they might have a quieter, more private ceremony. But in newly released details from Prince Charles's office, we can see that there will be plenty of pomp and ceremony to satisfy the adoring crowds.
William and Kate's wedding will take place April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. At 11 am, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Dean of Westminster, and the Bishop of London will perform the ceremony together at the magnificent cathedral. Afterward, a grand procession -- featuring the newly married couple in a horse-drawn carriage- will wind through London on its way to Buckingham Palace.
There the Queen, HRH Elizabeth II will host Prince William and Kate's wedding reception. Guests will include members of the Royal family, national and foreign dignitaries, and other figures from their public and private lives. Later, Prince Charles, the groom's father, will host a dinner with dancing afterward for just their close friends and family. In this way, William and Kate's wedding will include both the public celebration required of the future King and Queen, and the private moments that any couple would wish for.
The one break from tradition (which sadly deprives the public of some of the pomp and circumstance that they might wish for) is that Miss Catherine will travel to the church in a car rather than a stagecoach. Perhaps the car will be a convertible, allowing onlookers to see their new Princess as she nervously awaits her vows. But then again, it could easily be an SUV with tinted windows, given the current security culture.
The Royal Household promises that more details will be forthcoming in due time. Rumors have included talk of who will design Kate's wedding dress, the possibility of pop stars like Sir Paul McCartney performing at the reception, and even that Prince Harry is excitedly planning a huge Bachelor Party weekend!
