From the article: 2010 Wedding Trends
No one has a better prediction for 2010 wedding trends than couples who are getting married soon. Will cupcakes still feel cute, or just like last year's news? Will brides finally choose dresses with sleeves? And what are the things that are so trendy, they'll feel strangely dated in just a short period of time? What do you think will be the 2010 wedding trends? Please, no html or links in your answers. Thank you.

STRAPLESS GOWNS - No more please!

As a couple of others have noted, strapless gowns do not flatter most women, and frankly look uncomfortable, or the most important day in your life. My beautiful sister, as an example, insisted on a strapless gown. On her wedding day, although she is slim, people thought she was pregnant because the dress made her tiny belly bulge. And being large-chested, she had awful posture and constantly pulling the dress up. She was devasted when she saw the pictures. Brides-to-be; Stop the insanity!!!

Strapless has to go

I am a wedding photog. On the RARE day where I have a bride not wearing strapless, I rejoice. There's nothing unique abut them (EVERYBODY wears one), worse, they are unflattering on >95% of body types. I don't just mean those carrying extra pounds, either. Even tiny girls look too "straight", no pretty curves at all. I am so tired of "fixing" in photoshop the little wardrobe malfunctions and ugly bulges these gowns create (take a good, long, critical look at your back, arms, and underarm area when trying on, and you'll understand), that I began charging by the photo. It can take between 5-8 extra hours or more to go in and fix every single photo of the bride. Besides, without fail, she spends the entire day hoisting the dress up by the armpits. Even at the alter! I delete hundreds of photos every wedding because of this very uncouth gesture. Think about it-would you want to be picking your panties out of your rear your entire wedding day? It is almost as bad! Trust me here; I promise!

Regarding strapless sleeveless gowns

Completely bored with the cheap-to-manufacture sleeveless strapless wedding gown uniform look of the last 20 years or so!

More "Green" items

I think that we are going to see more and more green, eco-friendly items being used to the point that it gets ridiculous! Don't get me wrong, I think that some green items are a good idea but when a bride starts to feel guilty over something she has dreamed about her entire life, then we are carrying it a bit far!

For those who don't know

For those people who don't know the "purpose" of going to a florist for wedding floral arrangements I will tell you. A Florist is just a creator of another form of art. We take pride in our work, and love our jobs. I for one love the idea of DIY weddings for the most part. It is a great way for people to save money. One thing people should remember is that we are the professionals. We know what temperature flowers need to be kept at. How to process and clean Roses. How to process all of the tropical flowers, and regular spring flowers. Remember not all flowers need to be processed in one temperature. When a bride comes in to see me I sit down and try to get to know what she is seeing for her wedding. I am the one who is here to help the bride. People come to a Florist so they know that everything will be taken care of properly.

Ahead of the Trend for Backyard Weddings

We got married in our backyard in 2007. My wedding dress was a beaded holiday formal dress on sale in a department store for less than $150. Personally, I think we had an awesome, intimate wedding with good food -shared with people that really mattered. Why in the world do people stress themselves out so much for weddings? Spend the money on an incredible honeymoon instead.

Sourcinggate 2010 Trends of Wedding Dres

Every detail of 2010 fashionable wedding dresses gives people surprise inadvertently. The overall design tends to be simple, so do the details. The embellishments are less and more exquisite. Four popular elements of 2010 wedding are feathers, ruffles, handmade flowers and crystals. Regarded as the most traditional clothing, wedding dress has its general trends every year, though the prevalence cycle is not so obvious as apparel. The overall trend of 2010 wedding apparel is elegant and generous including the collision between tradition and modernity.

Having your guests sing love songs (words provided in songbook) before the wedding as guests gather...very fun and nice

2010 Wedding to be

I am getting married in 2010. Most of it is all DIY or searching online. I am doing wooden roses for my bouquets and centerpieces myself, ordering plastic frosted shotglasses at an unbeatable price including front and back printing, doing my own invites, and much more. My dress is a David's Bridal $650 but having it recreated for only $400 to my measurements. We're making our own wine for the tables too... DIY is hard but makes it more personal!

but's what's coming in 2010?

Nina, I usually like to read your posts, but as a wedding photographer with 20 years experience, I have to say that all of these trends are well established from the last couple of years - 2008 and 2009. I think a lot of them are still fresh and will continue, including peacock themes - really getting big, and blue shoes - cobalt blue bm dresses and theme details specifically have been growing in popularity since last winter. What I think is great is that every year more and more "rules" get thrown out and we see a lot more diversity with the kinds of weddings couples are having. Smaller guest lists with smaller unusual/unconventional venues may have been a result of economy, but I think it has actually made weddings a lot more intimate and enjoyable for everyone. I hope to see couples continue to think outside of the box and show more of their unique personalities rather than just stick to the generic formula. Keep being unique! It sure makes my job more fun every year!

predicting 2010 wedding trend

i've been dreaming since i was a young girl of wearing red wedding dress not the traditional white. not red accented but all red and have found so many beauties out there. i can't wait to share my dream with the world while thinking i'll be one of the few starting this trend for an all red gown!

DIY Flowers

I think that a lot of brides will go the DIY (do it yourself) route with flowers and arrangements. That certainly saves a tremendous amount of money on decor. Paired with smaller weddings with 'close' relatives being on the invite list, the wedding budgets will most likely diminish and wholesale flowers and cheap wedding florists will increase their businesses because of it. :)

2010 Trends.

I am planning a few weddings in 2010 for friends and family. 1. DIY is massive, not only because of the recession but mainly because you can create anything! 2. Blog style- I am currently designing a wedding gown for a client based solely off wedding blogs. 3. Groom style = Not so much casual but my "style". Vests, fedoras, Converse shoes etc etc. Still formal but give the men a chance to look stylish. 4. We are making a photobooth for a client with cut out windows and a couch. This was again found on a blog and photobooth = awesome! 5. Online purchases. Gowns, Flower girl gown, bridesmaid dresses, flower, veils, tiaras, jewellery. EVERYTHING can be bought online. 6. Engagement photoshoots, engagement RING photoshoots, Bridal gown shoots, Day after shoot, and trash the dress shoots. People are spending more on making memories! 7. Sentiments- Grandmas ring, Mums wedding gown, First date recepetion etc etc.

Backyard Wedding Reception

I am getting married in 2010 and i am having church wedding with a backyard reception. I am excited if i can pull everything out nicely, a church wedding with semi formal feel and completely turn into a relax and more of a family gathering for the reception. A marquee with buffet table for food. As for veil, mantilla veil is my choice just so romantic and beautiful. Wedding gown is not ruffle or feathery style but something like a Grace Kelly inspired gown with bow and flower corsages at the back.

Strapless Dresses

Frankly, I've seen enough of those strapless dresses. Time for some creativity and modesty.
