Happy Ramadan!

Tuesday October 4, 2005
This is the month of Ramadan, the holy Muslim month of fasting, abstinence, and purification. Since having a wedding during this month would mean a distraction from what is holy, most Muslim communities see almost no weddings during Ramadan, and then a surge of weddings afterwards. Thus, you will see many ads on the television right now for home goods and potential wedding presents. If you are planning a wedding for immediately after Ramadan, you are probably trying to find time for planning last-minute wedding details, without distracting either from prayer or the night-time parties. Some of those details might include finalizing your wedding ceremony, the wedding transportation, or simply trying to be extra prepared with a bridal emergency kit.

I also suggest you check out the About.com excellent Islam site, which includes information on Muslim weddings around the world.
