Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi: Their Wedding Song

Monday September 22, 2008
If you haven't seen Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi's wedding video, you should go watch it now, as it seems like an intimate and personal day. But you should especially watch it for their wedding song, "Today" by Joshua Radin. The words to it seem particularly well suited to a wedding day, and I imagine many brides and grooms will choose this song for their first dance. (Although they'll probably just buy it on iTunes rather than getting Joshua Radin and Priscilla Ahn to come to their wedding, as Portia and Ellen did!) I've transcribed the lyrics, so you all can see how nice they would be to hear on your wedding day.

Shoelaces untied
You can dry your eyes
Perfect shadows lie behind us
This is the day I make you mine

The way your hair lies
sometimes unrecognized.
All the way from these today ???
on a train
Nothing to say but there's still time

But you are the one
I've been waiting for today
Here comes the sun
It's been baiting more, today

Lately I've lost my tongue
Today you found my song
I know our love has grown
I thank god you came along
But you are the one
I've been waiting for, today
And here comes the sun
It's been baiting on today

You looked right through me
When there was no one else
I sat beside you and became myself
Today
Today

You are the one
I've been waiting for today
And here comes the sun
That's been baiting on today
