Look: Silhouette Cookies!

Thursday October 23, 2008
NieNie Silhouette Cookies

I was just floored by these silhouette cookies I spotted today. Wouldn't they be just incredible as wedding favors? I love using silhouettes in a wedding - they're like a more personal monogram, but far less stiff.

Melissa from on the Good Apple made these to sell at a benefit for Christian and Stephanie Nielsen, an Arizona couple injured in a horrific plane crash. Their tale has inspired huge outpourings of support from the blog community; talented Melissa made these and hand-piped them. (My hand is aching in sympathy!) Fortunately, she does custom orders for those of us not quite as talented.

If you're looking to make the cookies yourself and save some money, but you don't have those piping skills, there is an easier solution.

Martha Stewart Silhouette Cookies Martha Stewart found a company to make a custom cookie cutter, and then made simple cookies with them. Tie it in a glassine bag with a pretty ribbon and you've got a perfect wedding favor. I couldn't find a source on her website, only a recipe, but fortunately MySweetandSaucy ordered the cutters and did a step-by-step how-to! (The cutters come from Victor Trading Co.)

Still, I really can't resist the charm of these guys.... The Good Apple Silhouette Cookies

Those are so cute! I found some really awesome cookies for my wedding too! Everyone loves them. They’re at www.fortuneweddingfavors.com I thought they’d be way more expensive. The best part was I didn’t have to make them myself. lol.
