Cheap Wedding Food: A Reader's Thanksgiving Wedding

It's a refrain I've heard time and time again: "Why is finding affordable wedding food so hard!" I told you last week about the wedding trend of simpler wedding food, but simpler doesn't actually mean less expensive. That's why I loved finding this reader's post about his Thanksgiving wedding reception, which not only celebrated his favorite holiday, but allowed him to have cheap wedding food. In fact, his entire reception food budget was a mere $400!

While I love the idea of inexpensive weddings, the Thanksgiving’s author thought 10.00 a person was expensive for a wedding meal? You can’t even take your guests to McDonald’s for 10.00. That is unrealistic and insulting to the guests (and I’m sure he’s expecting more than 20.00 in each couple’s envelope…

I think this is a great idea! Especially in this economy where
its hard to pay for anything much less a wedding. I think
guests would be happy to be served a comforting home cooked
meal no matter how little it cost. I’m definitely considering
this for my october wedding.
