Penelope Cruz in Vintage Balmain That Could Inspire Your Wedding Dress

Find Your Wedding Dress at the Shop Where Stars Get Dazzling Vintage Gowns

Penelope Cruz's embroidered vintage Balmain Oscar gown couldn't look more like a wedding dress if she had been headed down the aisle with a bouquet in hand. The white lace ballgown had an elaborately ruched skirt embroidered with gold bullion.

Cruz originally saw the dress eight years ago, but didn't have anywhere to wear it. She'd remembered it all this time, holding out hope she would finally have an occasion to wear it. I suppose that being the first Spanish actress to win an Oscar is certainly worthy of wearing a wedding-dress-like ballgown!

When a celebrity wears vintage, you can't just easily copy her, or find an easy knock-off. If you want the best vintage clothing, head to where the stars shop -- Los Angeles's Lily et Cie. It's a veritable museum of exquisite clothes from the last century and beyond. But, like lots of things in Hollywood, you'll need to be tiny and rich. Lily et Cie's clothes tend to run very small, and can cost as much as $75,000. For more accessible options, read my advice on buying a vintage wedding dress.
